4 Deadly SEO Mistakes

Are you getting mediocre results from SEO INDIA? If yes, this article is for you. To achieve success with SEO, you must target the right key phrases and build links consistently. It is a continuous process - not a one-time effort.

With this in mind, let us take a look at the 4 deadly SEO mistakes that you must avoid at all cost. These are the mistakes that many optimizers made that prevent them from getting successful results:

1. You do not tag your pages with relevant key phrases. This is the most common mistake that many webmasters made. I believe you have seen websites that place only their company names in their Title tags. Title tags are words that appear on the top left hand side of your Internet browser. You must place keywords in your Title tag because search engines give a lot of weight to it. The title tag is like the Title of a book. It tells readers what the book is about. Likewise, the title tag tells search engines what your website is about. If you are trying to get higher rankings for a keyword but it is not present in your title tag, it is very hard for search engines to award you with high rankings. Therefore, make sure that your title tag describes the content of your page and place important keywords right at the front of it.

2. You do not have enough SEO content or your content is outdated. Search Engine Optimization india (SEO INDIA) is more than just tagging your pages. You need to have enough content for search engines to read. To rank high on search engine listings, you must place keywords in your content. Moreover, if your website content is outdated, search engines will visit your site less often, and thus view it as less important. This also prevents your site from getting higher rankings in search engine listings.

3. You optimize the wrong keywords. If you are trying to optimize keywords that are too generic, it is very hard for you to achieve success from your SEO effort. This is because you will get yourself into a more competitive battlefield with other optimizers. So, spend some time to do your research and look for key phrases with lesser competition but relevant to your business. Remember that if you optimize keywords that are not relevant or too generic, even if you achieve high rankings for them, there will be no conversion.

4. You do not build link consistently. Link building is a process of getting more incoming links to your website. Quality inbound links will help your website to achieve higher rankings for competitive keywords. But link building is a continuous process. If you never do it consistently, you will not achieve good result from SEO. So, always build links consistently by using article marketing, blog commenting, directory submissions, and other common strategies that optimizers are using.

These are the 4 deadly SEO mistakes that you must avoid at all cost. Good luck!

RSS & Search Engine Optimization

RSS & Search Engine Optimization are very very crucial. After putting a lot of thought into how to best use RSS feeds on your website and then creating them on your website, the next step is to promote them. As with any kind of marketing, where and how you advertise your website can determine the amount of visitors. The same applies to RSS feeds.

As you create your RSS feeds, keep in mind that the title should contain optimal search keywords. The more keywords contained, the more likely you are to have your feed come up when a particular search string is entered. This is not to say you should cram every possible keyword into the title of the RSS feed. Instead, keep in mind that you can have up to 15 different titles listed for the same link, article, content, etc. when creating the original RSS file.

Use descriptors to attract visitors to your site by tempting them to click on your feed. Think of text that will enhance your content, but not make it appear irrelevant. People are less likely to click on a RSS feed if it doesn't fit their needs and wants. By keeping the descriptors concise, but also tempting, you will drive people to click on your link over someone else's.

In keeping with the keyword search, don't forget that you can now search by theme. Use this to your advantage and group your RSS feeds into themes. When submitting them to search engines, group the feeds into specific themes. This can help bring your feeds up more often when similar themes are searched.

When you add RSS feeds from other companies, you can tell your website how to react when the feed is clicked on. Rather than have visitors transported to the new site, have it come up as a new window. This will help lessen the chance your site visitors will leave your website completely. People don't use the back button as often, so it increases your chances of the person to continue to peruse your site if the RSS feeds pop up as new browsers.

As you design your RSS feeds, include your company's contact information. This entails your website, any relevant contact information, and if possible, your logo. The more experience a person has with your website, the more frequently he or she will recall it when thinking of your products or services. Consequently, it also goes to say you need to make sure the experience is a positive one because it goes the same way with a negative experience, except it deters visitors from returning.

Use your feed within your own site. By promoting it within your own website, you can improve its standing on external search engines. Search engines often return results by the most frequently clicked first. If you don't have enough faith in your own RSS feed to include it in your website, why would anyone else want to subscribe to it? At the same time, RSS feed search engines often return results alphabetically. Typically an English teacher would not count the word 'A' in a title when cataloging it, but in RSS search engines, it is viewed as the first word of a title. Try to word your titles to begin with 'A' to improve their standing. As they are clicked on more and more, it will increase the feeds' standings in other search engines.

In order to utilize your well written and constructed RSS feeds, remember to subscribe to them yourself. Nothing gives others' faith in their content like seeing it on the originators' website. Use keywords appropriately in titles because you can write multiple titles to fit the same content. You can also use themes to help capture the essence of your RSS feeds. Keep site visitors at your website by 'instructing' external RSS feeds to open in new browser windows. Lastly, don't forget to include your company's contact information with the website in your feeds. The more often these are put out to the general population, the more exposure you will get.

Scope of SEO in India

SEO which is commonly known as Search Engine Optimization is meant to increase the visibility of the website. For a commercial website it means a lot. If your website is not getting traffic, means that website is not getting visitors and it directly means that website is not able to sale any thing. Just because a website is not getting visitor it won't be able to fulfill the desire of its owner.

Hence, a website is always requiring visitors and for that we will have to do the search engine optimization of that website, so that visitors can come to the website and we can convert them into customers.
When I first started doing search engine optimization in year 2004, the term SEO was not well known to me. I was not at all aware from it. Like me, there were so many people around me who even don't know what is the word SEO means. Even today some people asks me is it Senior Executive Officer, as if CEO means Chief Executive Officer.

Hence we can say that SEO is not a well known term in India even today, but yes after three years I can see a huge difference. Most of the people who are using internet for any means are a bit aware from it. A few years ago, there were so many people who are not even aware from websites. Then comes the world of net banking, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank etc. played a huge role in increasing the role of internet in common people. Also social network sites like Orkut played an important role in increasing the usability of internet in India.

Now an era has arrived when people are looking for there own websites, and they are also aware from the fact that it should have good visibility too. Hence, demand of website design and development and SEO is increasing day by day. As the number of websites will increase demand for SEO will also increase. Hence, I can see a good prospect of search engine optimization in India in near future.

Also from the market point of view, work of Search Engine Optimization is quite costly in western countries, and it is quite cheaper in India. Hence, people are use to outsource there work to India. They use to take work from there and then outsource it to India so that they can get the work done in a cheaper rate, and they can get good cost for it. Hence, scope of SEO in India in near future is quite good.

Best Affordable SEO Firm

One of the most complex parts in having a website is choosing the best affordable SEO firm that offers services in bringing traffic to your website. You need to be very careful in your choice because a mistake could cost you a lot. It is common to pay a costly package from a company who promises good results only to find out at the end that such company cannot deliver what it promised.

You could be confused with so many SEO firms from different parts of the world offering their services. Since they are internet based business, you can approach them even if you are located at the other side of the globe. If you are in Australia, for instance, you can contact a company operating in the US. In essence, you have unlimited choices of firms that can help increase traffic to your website. But how do you really choose the best affordable SEO firm?

First, you need to do a little homework about what it takes to optimize a site. This does not mean that you have to "do-it-yourself" as it could be a daunting job for you. All you have to do is at least know the basic methods or techniques in Search Engine Optimization and evaluate the unique needs of your website.

Second, understand that there are techniques that could hurt your website in the long run. Black hat SEO is one technique that has immediate outcome but are unethical and may result in your site being penalized. This does not give you long term results therefore you should avoid companies offering such technique.
Finally, it is recommended that you require a demo or sample work from the SEO company that you are considering. This way, you will know the techniques they employ and will help you evaluate if the company can really provide what you need.

Managing a site may be a little complicated especially if you are really aiming high traffic or big sales for your business. But with the best affordable SEO firm by your side, you can worry less. You just have to remember the tips above to ensure that you choose the right SEO company.

Targeted SEO Firms

Ever since the world economy was hit by many financial crises, many have become more practical by practicing efficient methods that would help improve their businesses. Numerous online companies today that wish to promote their websites choose the services of an SEO firm that provides affordable solutions. In this way, not only do they have experts working on jobs that they otherwise would not have accomplished, but they also have found a fast way in increasing their company profit.

SEO firms operate by providing their personnel, known as search engine optimizers, to companies that want their websites to become visible in the Internet. Online marketers know that web traffic is important for their website in order to acquire the highest possibility that a visitor will make a purchase. They know that the effectiveness of having good search engine rankings help give them the highest possibility, which is why SEO firms are becoming popular nowadays.

These firms can provide search engine optimization solutions to any website but it is important to note that certain factors should be considered before committing. A business should not only look for a firm that can provide, but also give them cheap SEO services that offer good quality on their outputs. Such a firm is not hard to find and there are many outsourcing companies that offer the same packages. That is because companies that provide from a different country have different exchange rates when it comes to money. Countries such as India and the Philippines get a high exchange rate from the currency in the United States.
Good SEO firms supply the demands of their clients with ethical SEO services that are very affordable. An online business should always check that the firm provides them with the guaranteed SEO services that they have paid for otherwise it would be totally pointless if they were mishandled by their providers.

Google Buzz and SEO

Everyone has been 'buzzing' around the new social media platform launched by Google recently - Google Buzz. There is nothing outstanding about the layout - it's a sort of Twitter meets FriendFeed design. The major difference (and advantage) Buzz has over the existent social networks is that it is integrated into your Gmail account. There are many other interesting features which have been discussed in much detail across the internet, hence in this article I will just concentrate on SEO implications of Google Buzz.
For Search Engine Optimizers, the two interesting aspects of Google Buzz are:
  1. The 'implicit' priority that Google Buzz will get on the Google Search Engine
  2. The 'auto-following' - you can leverage Gmail to grow your social network more rapidly (compared with Twitter) since Buzz has a built-in viral feature by auto-following contacts
For the past few years, Google has moving towards a trend know as 'real-time' or 'blended' search. On your search result page you won't only see organic (free results) and sponsored ads but also images, video, Twitter, MySpace and news posts (all as it happens). The opportunities for SEO here are:
  1. Google may interpret links from these posts to your website as having some marginal impact on your PageRank.
  2. People may read your tweets, news posts and thereby directly o to your website
  3. The posts themselves may show up on Google searches and give you some temporary visibility for free and for your target keywords.
I may be speculating here but I believe that Google Buzz might get a slight advantage when it comes to 'real-time' search, after all its Google's baby.
Or look at it this way - Google is in all ways the dominating Search Engine - a huge monopoly, huge profits to link products to attractive packages and important products to give away for free. Buzz is already linked to Gmail and Google says that public Buzz will be indexed on Google search engines (have a look at the launch video). Google is also indexing Twitter posts; all of this encourages an SEO to see Buzz as a powerful tool.
Also take a look at YouTube, video posts on Google are heavily biased towards it with respect to other alternative video services. Not really sure if Buzz will outrank Twitter but there is a vast opportunity to be exploited from an SEO perspective.

Another important point is that you can get a real link from Google.com Many SEO people still like to get links, especially from an authority domain. All your buzzes are extra pages with their own clean URL. The links don't use the infamous no-follow attribute that makes them useless for search engines.
I believe Google Buzz has a vast opportunity that can be exploited by search engine optimizers. So buzz your way around!

Latest SEO Techniques

One of the fastest growing forms of marketing is the use of search engine optimization or SEO. Think about it, how many use the Internet today for searching things that they need as compared to using, say, the yellow pages? There is a cool marketing viral video about Google vs. Yellow pages that can shed light on the issue in fact.

If you are a business owner who owns a website, or even without one, you should get with the program if you aren't already. Without a website? Time to start one if you want to take advantage of SEO. Already have a website but no SEO yet? Time to jump in. Learning SEO is a pretty straightforward thing to learn, but it requires time and dedication. You know what they say, you cannot rush perfection.

A primer on how SEO works, you first start by figuring out the keywords you want to get ranked for. Then you optimize your site using these keywords. You then do some off page optimization by linking back to your site using the same keywords. There are many more steps and procedures to learn if you really want your site to rise up from the ranks. This is why you must be on your toes when it comes to learning the best and most recent SEO techniques available.

SEO can be simple or it can be complicated. It is really up to you which direction you want to take, but learning the latest SEO techniques will always help your cause. There are tons of SEO experts out there, and it will be good for you to grow as an SEO practitioner if you learn from them. Though the techniques they use vary from user to user, it is also up to you how you build your SEO campaign. Many can live with simple SEO, while others prefer to rise up to the challenge and do it the complicated way. However, do not let the word complicated confuse you. Being complicated does not mean it is difficult, it only means that it requires a little more work.

So whether you are an SEO newbie, or a seasoned SEO expert, learning the latest SEO techniques will keep you on your toes and give you a leg up no matter what. A boost to your business is almost always recommended. So utilize SEO to its maximum and watch your profits rise.

SEO Services India Strategy: Advanced Search for Large Enterprises

SEO Services India (define) strategy was one of the hot topics at SES London, and global SEO Services India manager one of the hottest jobs. Many companies have chosen to expand overseas with the growing global economy. Multinational companies have launched Web sites in new countries to engage new audiences.

Each multinational must develop a search marketing strategy for each new international market. Each new strategy must fit in a holistic global search strategy.

Advanced global SEO Services in India requires more than just keyword research, translation, and localization. Here's a primer on key issues to consider when developing global search engine strategies.

Global Search and Top Level Domains

There are a few common misconceptions about how search engines handle global versions of sites hosted in the U.S. The majority of the problems seem to draw from the need to use a sub-domain for a dot-com top-level domain (TLD). A dot-com TLD resides in the U.S. If a domain doesn't live in the U.S., the only other way a search engine can provide a local stamp is the IP address location of each site.

Providing a local stamp would normally be easy for a small company to set up. Any large company would agree this is no simple pen stroke.

Many large companies typically set up a central hosting system that keeps all domains hosted from the local country. Central hosting is typically a lower cost solution that can help maintain up time with less staff.

The problem with central hosting solutions? The user experience may not be very good. This can seriously affect the likelihood of a user returning to the site.

If caching is an option for your content, it may make this process a bit easier. For example, if your data can be refreshed once every 24 hours, keep this data on a caching service. That would provide distribution around the world in local data centers. The users and the engines would both see a decent response time and they'd be able to provide the fast experience people expect.

SEO's Argue With Me: Why They're Wrong

Many SEOs argue with me on a regular basis about the SEO value of caching. If caching weren't important why would Google provide this information in Webmaster tools for you to see?

A good example of caching value would be trying to rank for the keyword "cars." That's a very difficult term to rank high for in the SERPs (define). Your Web site wouldn't be able to handle the traffic generated from such a keyword if your site could only handle two queries per second. Why would a search engine show this ranking when the site obviously can't fulfill the amount of traffic needed?

The 500

Another issue that can drive your site into the floor: returning "server not available" messages such as "500" range messages: the 5xx Server Error message. According to w3.org, server errors 5xx are cases in which the server is aware it has erred or is incapable of performing the request. These types of errors have response status codes beginning with the digit "5." Typically a 500 error is returned when the Web server is overloaded and can't keep up.

Several applications can be installed in the Apache Web server to fix the problem. For example, Mod Throttle will inspect the user agent of the request. If the request matches a search engine user agent it will only serve content one out of four times.

The search engine in this case assumes users see the same thing (no content three out of four times). The search engines will score the site accordingly. When your operations department feels like they're helping by keep the site up rather than increasing capacity to ensure it's performing well, they're costing your company money.

This is a big problem for really large sites. It will seriously hurt your business in the long run.

Other misconceptions I see from time to time are related to large companies thinking search engines will change for them and not for the good of the entire Web. One of the most common problems is multiple dynamic attributes in a URL. Search engines believe that this is a bad user experience and will not commonly include these pages in their index.

This arrogance will cost large corporations millions of dollars and should not be in the hands of technical people -- rather technical marketing people who understand the value.

Seo Content - A Major Part Of Your Seo Strategy

Search Engine Optimization is a dynamic process and it involves a lot of factors that can be broadly be divided into on page and off page factors. Among the on page factors the content that is presented on the web page plays a very significant role in the determination of the rank of that page. With the right kind of SEO India content you can increase the relevance of the page for the search engine thus making it rank higher for that particular keyword. The only thing that you have to be sure about is that you can employ the SEO in India aspect to the content correctly.

A lot of people know about the importance of SEO content and hence tend to try it out themselves but with the lack of proper knowledge they end up doing a lot of donkey work and end up getting no results or negative results at times. First of all SEO content does not imply that you stuff your content with the keywords that you want to optimize for. You need to bring them into use in a logical and sequential manner. At the same time you have to keep into check the keyword density and the the prominence. If you are not so sure what these parameters are, you can run a small search on Google and you will get more than adequate resources to help you understand the meaning and significance.

The next thing is the way to use the keywords, you must ensure that you can link the keywords to the apt pages on your site thereby giving the users more information and still keeping them on your site. You can also bold the keywords because that enhances the word for the spider crawling through the site. In this way the relevance of the page with reference to that keywords increases and you get a better chance for ranking for that keyword.

Whenever there is a heading or sub heading that you use in the content make sure that you have the keywords included in there as well. With the keywords included in the , or other header tags, the search engine holds the page on ranking value.

It can be said for sure that SEO content is an inseparable part of the SEO program that you carry out. With the right things done you can make SEO a lot easier because you will have a very strong base to build on.

Is Paying For Links A Good Idea?

As every internet entrepreneur knows you need a strong solid website, good content that is keyword rich, and of course incredible links if you want to get your website noticed by the search engine spiders. In light of this fact, is it a good idea to pay for links? The answer may surprise you.

Natural links are of course the best and most desired links, but good search engine optimization relies on obtaining the best possible links quickly. Buying links however is unnecessary if you have a good website you should be able to work out a link exchange with other companies in your field. Remember they too wish to build up their online reputation as well.

Whether or not you do or not buy links you need to have some info on how these things can work. You definitely want for your links to look like they are a natural thing. You can do that by using different text in your anchor text. It needs to look different because if it is always the same it will attract negative attention from the search engines. They do notice if all the links that you use are the same.

It is also important to stagger the links you have. While, of course, everyone is seeking links with the very best sites, you should vary the ranking of the websites that you are linking to for better overall results. If you have only those with high page rankings, this will again set off the bell and whistles letting the search engines know that these are not natural links. And spread out the links throughout all the pages of your website, and not just create links that all lead to your home page.

So make sure that you create natural looking links, but varying them throughout your website, linking to different words, and using different caliber websites. The decision to pay for links is truly yours to make, however keep in mind that this is probably an unnecessary expense since many companies will be looking for link exchanges which is just a win for everyone.

Why Is Keyword Research Critical To SEO Services India

Why is Keyword Research Critical?

Keyword research determines which keywords you should be targeting with the SEO Services in India. Most people think that they know which keywords they should target. Instinct can be a great resource, but it can also be misleading and is almost always not enough. For example, "search engine optimization" gets an estimated 16,000 searches a day while "search engine marketing" gets an estimated 8,800 searches a day. If your gut tells you to target "search engine marketing", you may get great rankings, but it would only get you half of the traffic that you could have had if you had targeted and ranked well for "search engine optimization". There are also keywords that you may not be able to rank well for without a lot of time and significant amount of link building regardless of how well you optimize your site. In addition, there are keywords that other people will use to search for what your site offers that you would never even think of. So, in addition to letting you know which keywords are more popular, the research can also provide new keywords to target.

Drawing on the analogy in our search marketing parable (found on the Church Marketing Online blog), optimizing your website without first doing keyword research is like trying to pick apples from a tree without first checking to see if there are any apples on it or if the apples are within your reach. You could end up putting in a lot of effort but going home with little fruit from your labor. So it's a key component of search engine optimization.

What Do I Research?
There are two main aspects to keyword research. The first is popularity, how often are keywords actually searched for. Unfortunately, Google, Yahoo, and MSN don't share the actual number of searches for specific keywords; however, there are a few tools online which are generally thought to be pretty accurate and Google does offer a free tool that gives the "approximate" number of searches for some keywords. The keyword popularity tools (other than Google's) use the search data from a number of other smaller search engines along with a few algorithms to predict how many searches are being made for specific keywords. It's not perfect, but it gives you an idea of which keywords are most popular. Since Google's figures come from…well…Google, they are probably the most accurate, but even their figures are only estimates and I've found that many keywords return a "Not enough data" result. You may wish to use both Google and another keyword popularity tool.

The second aspect to keyword research is competition research. Competition research starts with analyzing your web pages to determine how competitive your site is both in general and for specific keywords. This is sometimes referred to as page strength. I should note that there are really two aspects to page strength, the general strength of a site and the specific strength of a page within the site. For the sake of simplicity, in this article I will use "web page" for both. The next step is to examine the keywords themselves to see how competitive they are. This is sometimes called keyword difficulty. Determining keyword difficulty is done partially by examining how competitive the pages are that rank well for this keyword, though other methods can be helpful as well. This can be tricky for two reasons.

1. No one other than that search engine designers knows how each search engine determines how competitive a site or page is and the search engine folks aren't talking.
2. Each search engine has a different way of determining how competitive a site or page is. So, even if you could figure out one, it wouldn't necessarily be so with the other search engines.

Despite these difficulties the search engines do give us some general information about what makes web pages competitive (what determines page strength). I'll look more into how you determine keyword competition in my next article.

Without good keyword research, your search engine optimization efforts will be like firing a gun into the dark. You may hit something, you may not. You may choose keywords that are not searched for or keywords that are way too competitive for your site at that time. It's best to know what you need to be targeting.

Search Engine Optimization Strategy

A well planned and well thought out search engine optimization strategy is key to running a successful search engine optimization campaign. When you are deciding what methods you want to use, you need to be sure the methods you use are tried, true, and tested. Search engine optimization strategy changes often. The biggest key to this change is based on the new rules search engines such as Google decide to change their search parameters and algorithms to. Many internet marketers often speculate about what things search engines are doing to change their policies, but in truth no one except for the search engines themselves actually know this information. This information is a trade secret and the secret is kept very tightly sealed.

There's one thing that has stayed consistently consistent (if that even makes sense). It is article marketing. Article marketing is the process of writing and submitting articles to article directories. The benefit for you and your website is high quality anchor texted backlinks. I'll talk more about this later. The benefit for the article directories is content. Article directories want good high quality content to fill their directories with. The more content they have, the more ad space they can sell. The benefit for search engines is also content. Search engines love textual content and therefore there's no better textual content like articles. The purpose of a search engine is to deliver the highest quality and most relevant content to the end user. If you are creating good high quality and relevant content in the form of articles, the search engines will index your content, rank it high in the search engines and give you backlink credit for it.

So now we are back to backlinks. If you are not familiar with backlinks, here's a brief lesson. There are two types of backlinks. You can have reciprocal links which are two-way links that link two websites together. For example, if you and another website both link back to each other, this is a reciprocal link. Search engines will give you credit for this as a backlink, but they don't particularly care for reciprocal links. Search engines much prefer one-way backlinks.

The additional benefit of article marketing is that when submitting your article to directories, the article directories allow you to place up to 3 anchor texted backlinks. If you are a smart marketer or at least have a semi-functioning brain stem, you would link back to your website with anchor texted keyword phrases for keywords you'd like to get ranked for in search engines.

This is what I do for my clients and my websites and it has proven to be very successful.
This article is only a snippet of information about search engine optimization strategy. There's much more to know about search engine optimization strategy and article marketing. If you want more information I suggest checking out the link to my site in my author bio box below. There are tons of videos proving that article marketing works as an effective search engine optimization strategy.

Free Search Engine Optimization

Free search engine optimization sounds like bologna right? It's not. Six years ago when I first started running website business ventures, I was under the impression that search engine optimization was an expensive process only available to businesses with big budgets. I foolishly decided instead of pursuing search engine optimization, I would market my online business offline. It was a complete flop. Here's the reason why, the great thing and major purpose of marketing a website online is to convert prospects to your website easier, faster, and with a higher conversion rate. It's very difficult to get people to remember your website when advertising offline. Not to mention, most people don't walk around with a computer on them so they can't go to your website immediately.
I babbled on about that experience to hopefully inspire you to have confidence in free search engine optimization. If you want to optimize your website for free, article marketing is the best way to go. Article marketing has proven itself to be quite effective. It's effective for me personally as well as for my clients. Article marketing is not exactly a close kept secret of mine. Many internet marketers use article marketing to get immediate traffic to their website, get, maintain, and keep one-way anchor texted backlinks, and optimize their website for the search engines.
Article marketing requires three small steps to success and they are as follows:
Step 1: Find Keywords
Keywords are the most important step in any search engine optimization campaign or strategy. You will need to find keywords that you would like your website to appear in search engines for. I use seobook.com. They have a free keyword tool that allows you to type a broad keyword phrase and it gives you 100 narrowed keywords.
Step 2: Write Articles
Now that you have your keywords, you need to begin writing your articles. There are some very important things to keep in mind when writing articles. When writing articles be sure you are not rambling on about your product, service, or site. This is irritating for the reader and article directories will reject the article and ban you from their directory. When writing articles make sure you provide value and give people information they otherwise may not have known. Quality is key. If you need an example just look at the style and format of this article you are reading now. I'm not outright soliciting my site. I'm providing you with what I believe to be important and beneficial information. (at least I think it is)
Step 3: Submit Articles
Now this is the fun and also dreadful part. Submitting articles can be a pain because it takes so long. It can take up to 10 hours just to submit 5 articles depending on how many directories you submit to. One the subject of directories, I recommend submitting to at least 100 - 200 article directories. This provides maximum backlinking and search engine optimization benefits.

RSS and Search Engine Optimization

Typically an English teacher would not count the word 'A' in a title when cataloguing it, but in RSS search engines, it is viewed as the first word of a title.

Keyword stuffing of a web page

Keyword stuffing is the deliberate beefing up of particular phrases in the SEO content of the web page. It is a search engine optimization technique for any adult web site promotion. History of keyword stuffing The keyword stuffing has made history more for its abuses than for its uses. It was used as a bait to hook more and more traffic onto its web page, in an attempt to ethically or unethically shovel up the rankings of the websites.
Consider some instances-

* keyword stuffers used to hide the irrelevant keywords, by coloring it same as the web page background, making the search a mountain out of a mole hill.
* The more intellectual web designers infested their SEO contents with most coveted words like 'sex' even it had far anything to do with that pretext.
* Some stuffing freaks did this art ad nauseam, as such at the end of the day there were more keywords on the web page than its contents and the web page looked more of an American tattooed pattern.

Then one day, all of a sudden leading search engine websites like Google and Msn , came down heavily on these practices and specified their norms to keyword stuffing , failing which the web designers would be nabbed and their website banned for ever.
These guidelines -

* Squashed the practice of ratings based on the frequency of the keywords.

In contrary it made way for themed related keywords that have something to do with the content of the website.

* Specified the degree to which any keyword can be impregnated, and also the positions where they are to be stuffed.

A stuffing of up to 10% in major headings, first paragraph, ending and sparsely distributed in the middle is desirable for any adult website promotion. A word of caution It is highly recommended for adult web marketing that stuffers do stick to the basics, as the search engine sites employ sophisticated tools like the keyword density analyzers and by no means, will a machine understand that you were by any way unintentional.

Before Optimizing Your Site - You Need to Know 20 Things

One of the most important aspects of a search engine optimization project is also one of the most overlooked – preparation! There are some important steps to take in advance of optimizing your site that will make sure your SEO is successful.

Before You Start

Before you start any search engine optimization campaign, whether it’s for your own site or that belonging to a client, you need to answer the following questions:

1) What is the overall motivation for optimizing this site? What do I/they hope to achieve? e.g. more sales, more subscribers, more traffic, more publicity etc.

2) What is the time-frame for this project?

3) What is the budget for this project?

4) Who will be responsible for this project? Will it be a joint or solo effort? Will it be run entirely in-house or outsourced?

Answering these questions will help you to build a framework for your SEO project and establish limitations for the size and scope of the campaign.

Get Ready: How Search Engine-Compatible is the Site Currently?

Something I find very useful before quoting on any SEO project is to produce what I call a Search Engine Compatibility Review. This is where I carry out a detailed overview and analysis of a site's search engine compatibility in terms of HTML design, page extensions, link popularity, title and META tags, body text, target keywords, ALT IMG tags, page load time and other design elements that can impact search engine indexing.

I then provide a detailed report to potential clients with recommendations based on my findings. It just helps sort out in my mind what design elements need tweaking to make the site as search engine-friendly as possible. It also helps marketing staff prove to an often stubborn programming department (or vice versa!) that SEO is necessary. You might consider preparing something similar for your own site or clients.

Get Set: Requirements Gathering

Next, you need to establish the project requirements, so you can tailor the SEO campaign to you or your client’s exact needs. For those of you servicing clients, this information is often required before you are able to quote accurately.

To determine your project requirements, you need to have the following questions answered:

1) What technology was used to build the site? (i.e. Flash, PHP, frames, Cold Fusion, JavaScript, Flat HTML etc)

2) What are the file extensions of the pages? (i.e. .htm, .php, .cfm etc)

3) Does the site contain database driven content? If so, will the URLs contain query strings? e.g. www.site.com/longpagename?source=123444fgge3212, (containing “? symbols), or does the site use parameter workarounds to remove the query strings? (the latter is more search engine friendly).

4) Are there at least 250 words of text on the home page and other pages to be optimized?

5) How does the navigation work? Does it use text links or graphical links or JavaScript drop-down menus?

6) Approximately how many pages does the site contain? How many of these will be optimized?

7) Does the site have a site map or will it require one? Does the site have an XML sitemap submitted to Google Sitemaps?

8) What is the current link popularity of the site?

9) What is the approximate Google PageRank of the site? Would it benefit from link building?

10) Do I have the ability to edit the source code directly? Or will I need to hand-over the optimized code to programmers for integration?

11) Do I have permission to alter the visible content of the site?

12) What are the products/services that the site promotes? (e.g. widgets, mobile phones, hire cars etc.)

13) What are the site’s geographical target markets? Are they global? Country specific? State specific? Town specific?

14) What are the site’s demographic target markets? (e.g. young urban females, working mothers, single parents etc.)

15) What are 20 search keywords or phrases that I think my/my client’s target markets will use to find the site in the search engines?

16) Who are my/my client’s major competitors online? What are their URLs? What keywords are they targeting?

17) Who are the stake-holders of this site? How will I report to them?

18) Do I have access to site traffic logs or statistics to enable me to track visitor activity during the campaign? Specifically, what visitor activity will I be tracking?

19) How do I plan on tracking my or my client’s conversion trends and increased rankings in the search engines?

20) What are my/my client’s expectations for the optimization project? Are they realistic?

Answers to the first 10 questions above will determine the complexity of optimization required. For example, if the site pages currently have little text on them, you know you’ll need to integrate more text to make the site compatible with search engines and include adequate target keywords. If the site currently uses frames, you will need to rebuild the pages without frames or create special No-Frames tags to make sure the site can be indexed, and so on.

This initial analysis will help you to scope the time and costs involved in advance. For those of you optimizing client sites, obtaining accurate answers to these questions BEFORE quoting is absolutely crucial. Otherwise you can find yourself in the middle of a project that you have severely under-quoted for.

The remainder of questions are to establish in advance the who, what, where, when, why and how of the optimization project. This will help you determine the most logical keywords and phrases to target, as well as which search engines to submit the site to.

For those of you optimizing web sites for a living, you might consider developing a questionnaire that you can give clients to complete to ensure you tailor the web site optimization to their exact needs.

3 Steps- Search Engine Compatible Site

Is your web site search engine compatible? Despite all the misinformation out there, it's very easy to design a web site that search engines will love. All you need to do is follow 3 simple steps:

1) Obey the Search Engine Guidelines

Nearly all search engines publish their own guidelines regarding the submission of sites, the type of sites they will accept and recommendations for optimized content. Google recently updated their Webmaster Guidelines which cover the most common forms of deceptive or manipulative search engine behavior that they consider to be 'spam'. They also published SEO Guidelines – advice for webmasters to heed when choosing an SEO. Google was the first search engine to publicly acknowledge search engine optimizers in this fashion.

It's not just Google publishing anti-spam guidelines. You'll find them at the following search engine sites as well:

* Yahoo terms of service
* Yahoo guidelines on search engine spam (covering AltaVista and AllTheWeb as well)
* Yahoo definitions of search engine spam (covering AltaVista and AllTheWeb as well)
* Yahoo content guidelines
* MSN Search webmaster guidelines
* AltaVista terms of use (AltaVista is a Yahoo-owned company)
* Ask.com terms of service and spam policy
* Ask.com editorial guidelines

2) Don’t Use Spammy Search Engine Tactics

Often, webmasters will use search engine spam techniques without even being aware that they are doing so. Or worse, web designers can - advertently or inadvertently - integrate techniques that could cause a site to be penalized in the site's rankings in one or more engines, without the site owner's knowledge of such penalties. The key to avoiding spamming the engines is research.
Keep track of the various search engine guidelines via the links above. Watch for any changes they make to these guidelines and tweak your site accordingly. Trawl the various webmaster and search engine forums regularly to ensure your site doesn't use any of the latest optimization methods that appear to be penalized. If you suspect your site has been penalized, remove the offending content, contact the engine concerned and ask to be reinstated.

Google actually encourage you to file a re-inclusion request via their Help Center and this post by Google staffer Matt Cutts outlines what should be included.

Alternatively, here is a sample email template you can use instead:

--------------------------------------------
Sample Re-inclusion Request Email

Dear [search engine name],

I am the owner of [your site URL].

I did not realize that participation in [spammy method] and
[spammy SEO name] programs could cause problems for my website. I was
assured that these techniques were search-engine-friendly by [your source for using spammy method].

I now understand that the practices used are not acceptable. I apologize for having allowed them to be placed on my website. I've removed the questionable pages and links from the site. I promise not to repeat such mistakes.

To assist them to provide a high quality service, search engines encourage people to report search results they are dissatisfied with. If you spot some content spam or techniques that are clearly in breach of the search engine's public guidelines, you can report it using these links:

* Google spam report or via search-quality@google.com
* AllTheWeb relevancy problem report (AllTheWeb is a Yahoo-owned company)
* AltaVista search results manipulation report (or via Yahoo's spam report)
* Yahoo spam report
* Ask.com spam report or via information@ask.com

3) Build Sites for Visitors Rather than Search Engines

The methodologies may have changed over the years, but the same principles have always applied to "good" or "white hat" SEO. Build sites for humans, not search engines. Make the site as user friendly as possible, avoid the bells and whistles and include high quality, relevant content.

Wherever possible, include text-based content and navigation menus with simple, descriptive, well-written copy designed to convert your visitors into customers. Include keywords and phrases your audience would logically type in to search engines to find sites like yours. Only link to sites that are relevant to your target audience and spend some time on usability, making sure all your forms and shopping carts work.

Remember that what pleases a visitor is almost always what pleases a search engine too.

As per the latest news Google and Adobe are churning out an algorithm to help search engine crawl flash files too. But its gonna take some time. Till then feel free to use google code to display flash on your site and show content to those who don't have JavaScript or Flash players on their browsers. The best thing is a Search Engine Bot or spider is very much similar to such java script-less and Flash-less browsers. The trick is to display the actual content that you want to show on the site within a named DIV and use java script to display the flash in it once the page loads. JavaScript is a client side scripting language and is not taken into account by the server where the crawling happens. The SE bots are not interested in your java script either.

Understanding Google AdSense

Google Ad Sense allows webmasters to dynamically serve content relevant advertisements on web pages. If the visitor clicks one of the Ad Sense ads served to the website, the website owner is credited for the referral. Google's Ad Sense program essentially allows approved websites to dynamically serve Google's pay-per-click Ad Word results.

SEO Friendly Website maintenance related to Ad Sense is very easy and requires very little effort. Webmasters need only to insert a Google generated java script into the web page or website template. Google's spider parses the Ad Serving website and serves ads that relate to the website's content. Google uses a combination of keyword matching and context analysis to determine what ads should be served. The java script calls the ad from Google and will ensure that ads are served each time a visitor goes to the web page.

Early on Google implemented a filtering system that allowed webmasters to prevent a specific domain's ads from being served on any websites in their account. Ad blocking meant that webmasters could prevent their competitor's ads from being dynamically served on their websites.

Google provides a wide variety of ad formats to match the most suitable option with a website. Webmasters can select from a handful of reformatted towers, inline rectangles, banners and buttons. The ad boxes can be modified by webmasters to resemble the website's color scheme. Examples of how different the various text boxes and color schemes appear on similarly themed sites can be viewed at:

or

Ads can be geo-targeted based on the visitor's location. Advertisements containing content in English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Japanese, or Spanish are all available.

Channels
Google recently introduced channels, enhancing Ad Sense reporting. When a channel is selected Google modifies the java script to include additional tracking. The additional tracking information allows webmasters to track a variety of metrics across their sites. Channels can be used to measure performance on various domains, differences in revenue with various ad sizes, or placement. By assigning each group of pages to a specific channel and comparing results in custom channel reports webmasters can work at increasing their Ad Sense revenue.

Optimizing
Google determines the content of the ads that are shown, webmasters serious about earning revenue from Google Ad Sense can use the following guidelines to optimize their website and ensure that targeted and relevant ads are served. If Google's spider has not crawled the site and determined the nature of the content, public service ads may be served. Public service ads will not accrue any Ad Sense revenue if clicked. As a result Google allows webmasters to designate alternate ads. Alternate ads allow webmasters to utilize the ad space in the event that Google is unable to serve targeted ads to the web page. By specifying an alternate image, HTML page, or ad server the advertising space can always being used effectively.

1.) Web page content on pages that ads are served should be static not dynamic.

2.) Ensure that the robot.txt does not prevent the web page from being spidered. Robots.txt file's will need to be removed or the following text will need to bedded to allow Google's content bot to crawl the site: User-agent: Media partners - Google

3.) If the website contains frames, select the ‘framed page’ checkbox when generating the ad layout code for that website.

4.) The body of the page and title of the page should contain contextual words that indicate a common theme on the web page.

Revenue Earned
Although Google doesn't disclose the exact revenue share or percentage that webmasters will earn, webmasters will receive a portion of the amount paid for clicks on Google ads on websites.

Ad Sense Conclusion:
Overall, Google Ad Words can provide great supplemental income to webmasters with content sites. Implementing and maintaining Google Ad Sense program on a content site requires very little effort and can often bring a steady stream of additional revenue for webmasters.

Twitter Crowdsourcing

Many people contribute to one cause or piece of content. It’s as simple as that but it’s not simple as all. Even using such a simple tool like Twitter which seems to be perfectly suited for the quick crowd sourcing project without further ado crowd sourcing requires a certain kind of magic.

How do you motivate people you often barely know to participate in writing a blog post?

You could argue that in the SEO industry it shouldn’t be that difficult as everybody seeks publicity, attention and links here. Surprisingly the drive for attention seems not to be enough. People are busy as most SEO professionals have tight schedules. So only from time to time you can get a response that deserves to be called “crowd sourcing”. After all there is no crowd sourcing without a crowd. Two or three tweets are not enough to speak of crowd sourcing if you ask me.

My recent SEO FAQ post was quite successful at enticing a response.

Many people have contributed. Some of them haven’t conversed with me much in the past. So the motivation must have been beyond “I like him, so let’s help him”.

Before I tell you how to use Twitter for crowd sourcing I want to clarify why we should do it.

* Why bother?
* Do we need crowd sourced posts at all?
* Why use Twitter for that purpose?

Crowd sourcing is not only fun and strengthens your social ties it makes sense in order to promote your work. People care much more for a post they’ve contributed to than a random post by someone else. Also the attention span on Twitter is minuscule. normally a few minutes after you tweet your new post it vanishes already from people’s timeliness. In contrast you can inform your contributors about the post being published directly addressing them. On Twitter with an @mention.

You could argue that Twitter is not the best medium to crowd source in the first place due to its “only 15 minutes of fame” nature, crowd sourcing should be done via email and more advanced tools instead. That’s true to some extent but it takes much longer and much more effort to crowd source without Twitter. So at the end of the day you have to decide whether you want to spend hours or days on a post. Twitter allows you to crowd source both much faster and in a less time consuming manner.

OK, so how did I inspire my followers this time to contribute? Why didn’t they do it each time in the past just for the sake of the links and mentions?

There many a few reasons for the recent “change of mind”. You have to:

find a common cause
Just creating another SEO FAQ isn’t really interesting for most people in the industry. It’s a rather boring task. Also I wasn’t eager to write another SEO FAQ. Accidentally I’ve noticed a SEO bashing post that ranks for SEO FAQ and that motivated me, the others and even Danny Sullivan before us to debunk it and to outrank it. We’ve seen plenty of SEO bashing in the recent years and most SEO practitioners can’t do very much about it. Almost everybody gets annoyed or even downright angry by those ignorant SEO bashing but you can’t counter them by writing replies as you only add to the publicity the fake pundits seek. So most people ignore it while others add attention to the SEO bashing link baits in order not to ignore it. Here we have the option to fight that crap without actually giving it more attention than it deserves outside the industry.
The goal is to outrank the fake SEO FAQ and to spread the basic SEO wisdom via Google and other channels.

ask a broad question
I often ask questions on Twitter. Ofter there are too specific or to research intensive. This time I asked people to provide tidbits from their daily practice that they remember out of the top of the head. They didn’t have to search for answers or to peruse their bookmarks. They just had to remember their own experiences and to add them. It was more like a brainstorming.

add some humor
A common and justifies reaction to SEO bashing is being at least irritated. While at the same time the people who spread the lies and misconceptions about our industry are not worth it. They will never get it. They don’t want to. We have to win over the people who they reach. These people are often wary of SEO just for the boring theory of it. SEO is hard work and it has no glamor like web design or even a subculture web development and programming aka gawkiness. Humor is the perfect ingredient for the otherwise boring SEO topic. With humor you can overcome some of these barriers and make people otherwise oblivious of the topic listen. We had a lot of fun compiling the SEO FAQ questions and answers because most of them were in a way humorous by themselves. The informal way we communicate on Twitter made it easy to be laid back about these Q&A.

strike a cord
Probably one of the main reason for the latest crowd sourcing success was that I was able to strike a chord. Most SEO practitioners are subject to very common, almost annoying questions. Some questions get asked with an astounding frequency and lack of understanding of SEO. this way the humor and common cause of the topic got bundled be the common experience of getting asked the same questions over and over and having the explain the same issues each time anew. Thus some questions are almost running gags by themselves.

give before you take and then give again
I’ve promised links for contributions for at least 12 months by now. This time I did again. While it was not a reason by itself some people contributed also to get a link. There’s nothing wrong with some healthy selfishness. Then I offered even more. I shared the content. This time I offered other blogger, SEOs and publishers to take half of the list, the questions to be exact and to republish those providing their own answers. While giving away content is quite popular these days due to the Creative Commons alternative copyright movement it’s rare in the SEO industry due to duplicate content issues. We have overcome that just by sharing the questions and no all of it. This way all of the republishes actually remix the post. They have an original afterward and Google doesn’t filter the newer posts for duplicate content.

announce it
Sometimes I haven’t been outspoken enough about the ability to take part in the latest SEO optimist list. I’ve tweeted it once or twice asking a question, then checked the few replies if any and that’s all. This time I’ve tweeted it several times in different time zones long enough before the publication. Also I added a clear call to action and the tweets have been re-tweeted by Kevin Gibbons and the official @seoptimise Twitter account. So we reached enough people to find those wanted to participate.

So you see the magic of Twitter crowd sourcing lies in the way you motivate your peers to work together with you.

Following these steps you should be able inspire your peers as well. In case you really succeed at it make sure to tell me. I might even link those crowd sourced posts a examples here.

10 Reasons You Can’t Ignore Google Buzz as an SEO

Usually I try most new Google services shortly after their release. I did with Google Buzz as well and I didn’t like it because it didn’t even show up for 24h while the call to action “Try Google Buzz in Gmail” was already in place.

Thus I decided to abandon Google Buzz for good like I did with Google Wave. Also I almost never use Google Search Wiki, Google Side Wiki and other old and new Google attempts to get into social media.

Unfortunately you can’t ignore Google Buzz. Especially as an SEO. This time the news is too big to just test and forget it. There are at least 10 reasons for that.

I know “10 reasons” posts are quite boring these days but this form is very apt here.

Google Buzz buzz – Google Buzz is in the news all the time. Indeed the bad publicity even helped it. Most people will notice it sooner or later. Twitter needed years to get as much attention.

Google Buzz is connected to your Google Profile – The Google Profile becomes more and more your homepage on the Web. People will find all your other links there and Google will show it in results for your name. Of course it’s linked to all kinds of Google tools already.

GMail is very popular – I don’t know by heart but I assume that Gmail is one the most popular mail services globally. In July 2009 146 millions of people already used it. All these people will have to deal with Google Buzz, at least by getting rid of it.

Google Buzz will show in real time results – You don’t have to be a prophet to predict that Google Buzz will show up in Google real time results alongside of Twitter.

You either opt out or you’re in – Google loves to make you a user of its new services lately. Whether it’s Google Search Wiki, personalized search or Google Buzz they switch them on by default and you have to opt out to get rid of them.

Google tests trending topics for news – Google has hot trends based on search frequency but now it also tests trending topics on Google News. The new feature is similar to Twitter’s trending topics. I doubt that these will be based solely on Google News stats. Rather Google will determine trends via search and social media analysis.

Your privacy – There were so many privacy concerns over Google Buzz and so many quick fixes by Google last week that I have completely lost track of them. I only know Google Buzz still sucks for privacy. Google CEO Eric Schmidt is known to dismiss privacy altogether (“you don’t want other to know, don’t do it at all”). So you have to check it out, fix your default options at least or even opt out to protect your privacy.

People follow you on Google Buzz – unless you don’t use Gmail (or Google services?) at all you’re on Google Buzz already and people are friendlily you. It would be a waste not to follow your friends you now from elsewhere back. In case you use Gmail for business it’s even possible that your clients are following you already. Can you afford not to follow them?

A real link from Google.com – As many people in SEO still like to get links, especially from an authority domain: All your buzzes are extra pages with their own clean URL. The links don’t use the infamous no follow attribute that renders them useless for search engines.

Email notification – Whenever you like you can address people via email in Google Buzz. You can’t do that in Twitter or Face book that directly. So even people who would have ignored Buzz will be forced to notice.

Most of these points are also valid in case you’re not into SEO at all but for SEO practitioners they are even more pressing. Make sure to use Google Buzz to you advantage before Google and others use it against you.
